Project Overview

Harris Teeter, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co., was co-founded in 1960 by North Carolina grocers W.T. Harris and Willis Teeter. Harris Teeter operates more than 250 stores and 60 fuel centers in seven states and the District of Columbia.

Project Execution

Challenges

Harris Teeter was using the older version of the IBM FileNet P8 4.5.1 and with the evolving business; many critical processes were affected due to non-upgradation, especially in the Finance & Accounting and the Human Resources department.

Existing data capture solution was also outdated and Harris Teeter was facing challenges in capturing the data from various documents.

Since the data volume was high, Harris Teeter wanted to upgrade the existing ECM platform to the newer version without any data loss or any effect on the data quality.

Project Results

Solution

Harris Teeter partnered with Openway to upgrade its ECM platform from FileNet P8 4.5.1 to the latest version FileNet P8 5.5.1

The upgrade enabled Harris Teeter to migrate its accounts payables and human resources applications from IBM Capture Professional to IBM Datacap, thus enabling digital business automation.

The modernization not only enabled Harris Teeter to digitize the existing documents but also helped to capture more fingerprints on the existing documents, thereby enabling an increase in the search field with additional metadata available.
